EVENT

International Yoga day 2019

“ Yoga is the Journey of the Self, to the Self, through the Self.” Yoga day is celebrated every year on 21st of June which came into being in the year 2015 with the genuine effort made by Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. The 5th International Yoga day was celebrated in the premises of St. Xavier School, Bokaro on 21st June, 2019. Prior to it three days morning assembly was dedicated to its preparation. The Middle, High School and Plus Two students were guided by Dr. Vinay Yog. Our former student Navdha demonstrated the asanas. Makarasana, Pavan Muktasana, Tadasana, Suryanamaskar, Butterfly, Pranayama, etc. were performed by the students. Simultaneously the instructor explained the benefits of these exercises, stressing development of strength and balance besides the attainment of inner peace. The holistic approach thus promotes mental and physical well-being. The teachers and students participated enthusiastically.

Inaguration of the New Academic Year 2019-20

The new academic year 2019-20 was officially inaugurated on 26th March, 2019 with the Chief Guest being the Bokaro Police Superitendent Mr. P. Murugan, IPS. We are thankful to him for giving us his valuable time. The gathering aimed at awarding and encouraging the students who had done exceptionally well in their academics. Students who had shown a persistent rise in their academic performance and who had done praiseworthy work in the field of literature were also awarded on the occasion to encourage them and to boost up their budding spirits. It was a moment of exceptional pride for the parents when their children were being felicitated. The welcome dance and song presented by the students of our school added a marvelous glory to the auspicious occasion. Sir Anjan Sinha, one of our most beloved and oldest staff member was also bid a hearty farewell by our Xaverian family, hoping that he would lead a happy and peaceful life after his retirement. The speech given by the principal Fr. Saju Bastian SJ and the Chief Guest, Mr. P.Murugan, filled a feeling of enthusiasm among the students and emboldened them to work hard. They had only one principle i.e every student is capable of doing well in their specific fields. They just need to put in some hard work. Hard work is the ultimate key to success. Marks merely stands any importance in front of moral values which stands for a great importance in life. The programme ended up with The School Anthem sung by the Xaverians present there which was truly a moment of pride and glory.

Republic Day Celebration

 

Republic Day was celebrated on 26th Jan, 2018 in the school ground with patriotic fervor. The event began at 9:00 A.M with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal Fr. Saju Bastian, followed by the National Anthem. The students of four houses(classes VI to XII) and Hindi Medium marched in their cololrful house uniforms rhythmically to the patriotic tunes played by the school band. A variety of cultural programmes mesmerized the audience. Middle School choir group presented a patriotic song. High School and Plus Two students performed dance. Hindi Medium students performed a well synchronized drill on the instrumental song on ‘Bahubali’. A skit was presented by primary school students to bring awareness among people about their rights and their duties towards the country. An inspirational speech was given by our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. An encouraging speech was also given by school captain. On this occasion, prizes were given to the students who participated and secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the State Level Athletics Meet 2018-19 organized by School Sports Promotion Foundation at Jamtara. Marshal Soren(Std IX) secured 1st and 2nd position in 200m, Long Jump & 100m; Siddhant Yadav(Std VII) secured 2nd position in 600m; Satyam(Std IX) secured 3rd position in 800m, Anita Beck(Std VI) secured 3rd position in 600m. The program ended with the vote of thanks by the Social Convener Nikhil Taboda.

Parents’ Day Cum House Competition

 

St. Xavier’s School celebrated its biennial, most awaited ‘Parents’ Day Cum House Competition’ programme on 20th and 21st of December, 2018. The Parents’ Day Cum House Competition celebrates the Xaverian Spirit. The students of four houses namely – Xaviers, Loreto, Carmel and Loyola presented a number of performance under three categories of drama, group singing and dance, to mark the occasion. The programme was attended by all the parents of various sections which reflected their love and support for their children. This experience of self – discovery and celebrating our own talents was enjoyed and appreciated by one and all. Loreto House won the competition, followed by Xaviers, Carmel and Loyola. With Christmas knocking at the door, the programme was indeed a festival for all. It gave each one an opportunity to explore, express and celebrate their unique gifts.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Principal, Fr. Saju Bastian for making this event a  possible reality.

52nd Annual Sports Day - 2018

St. Xavier's School held its 52nd Annual Sports Day on 8th December 2018 in the school ground. Chief Guest Mr. Anil Palta, I.P.S, A.D.G, Jharkhand Govt. (Training & Modernisation) (1984 Batch) and Special Guests - the visiting staff and students of Xavier College, Melbourne, Australia were escorted by our School Band to inaugurate the function. There were 200 events. The most appreciated charms of the day were the superb mass drill display by the students of Hindi Medium and Yoga display by the students of Primary School and Middle School. The march past by the High School students was indeed a spectacular spectacle to be hold. The prize winners were given prizes by honourable Chief Guest and our principal Fr. Saju Bastian. Loreto House bagged the championship trophy with 1690 points. Loyola House with 1539 points was declared the first runner up and Xavier House with 1435 points was declared the second runner up.

Clubs Handing Over

On 3rd december, 2018 club members for the session 2018 - 19 handed over their responsibilities to the new club members for the session 2019 - 20. All the new club members took an oath to faithfully carry out the task entrusted to them and work towards bringing greater glory to the school. Principal Fr. Saju Bastian appreciated the outgoing club members for their hard work and dedication. He also encouraged the new club members to work with their very potential. We have Acaantha Anil as our new School Captain and Vaishnavi Prasad as the new Vice - Captain.

Eco Exposure Camp at Tarumitra Bio - Reserve

An excursion trip to Tarumitra Bio - Reserve, Dighaghat, Patna was organised from 23rd to 25th November, 2018. About 35 students of Std IX along with teachers and our princiapl Fr. Saju Bastian took part in this camp organised by Father Robert Menzes and his staff members. This bio - reserve not only imparted environmental education to the students but also exemplified eco - friendly ways of life.

Cross Country 

Like every year, this year also Cross Country was organised in St. Xavier's School for Primary, Middle, High and Plus Two Sections. Tiny Tots of Primary shift participated in cross country with zeal and excitement on 22nd November. Honourable Principal Father Saju Bastian was also present at the starting point to encourage the participants. Loreto House was the overall winner and Carmel House was the first runner up in Cross Country. Cross Country for High School and Plus Two held on 24th November. Xavier House was the overall winner. Cross Country for Middle School held on 26th November. Loyola House was the overall winner.

Annual Fete 2018

St. Xavier's School, Bokaro organised annual fete in school premises on 3rd November 2018. It was full of enthusiasm and entertainment. Several stalls were put up by the students of Plus Two section with many exciting and amazing games and rewards. Parents and children enjoyed the event thoroughly.

Principal’s Day

On 13th of October, St. Xavier’s staffs and students celebrated the birthday of our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. The programme began with a prayer song by the High School students. Then our Principal was welcomed by the students of Plus Two section with a wishing song followed by the cake cutting ceremony which made the occasion full of effervescence. A splendid and energetic dance was performed by the Middle School students. Our Staff Representative Mr. Debashish Gupta delivered a motivational speech for the students on the occasion. The progamme concluded with the Principal’s inspiring speech.

Teacher's Day Celebration

St. Xavier’s School, Bokaro celebrated Teacher's Day with zeal and zest on September 5, 2018. Teachers were escorted by the School Band to the Plus Two Hall. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by Principal Fr. Saju Bastian, Vice Principals and Staff Representatives along with the Prayer Song sung by High School choir group. A Prayer Dance(Bharatanatyam) was also performed by the Plus Two students followed by the cake cutting ceremony. Teachers were presented cards and gifts. The cultural program began which included wishing song by plus two students, skit by primary and middle school students, dance by middle school and high school students. Our Principal addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of Teachers’ Day. On this occasion our senior teachers who completed 15 and 20 years of their service in school, were felicitated by BOXANS. Passed out students were awarded with Gold Medals for their excellent performance in different categories. Photography Competition winners were also awarded by XOL. Then our Staff Representative Mr. Debashish Gupta addressed the gathering with the words of motivation. The program ended with the vote of thanks by our School Captain.

Talk Show Organized by Interact Club

On 23rd of August , the Interact Club of St. Xavier’s School organized a TALK SHOW. The interaction took place between the students of the Plus Two Section and the Police Department, to be more precise – the in-charge of the Mahila Thana; Smt Sangeeta. She apprised the house of the dangers involved in using the internet carelessly. What kind of juvenile delinquencies could lead to imprisonment was also touched upon. A word of caution regarding life style has to be observed was enforced upon.

Boakro Vicariate Football Tournamnet 2018

Boakro Inter School Football Tournament was held on 18th and 19th of August 2018 at St. Xavier’s School, Bokaro. Number of schools participated were 13 and number of teams 22. Md. Shakir, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Boakro was the Chief Guest. Junior team winner was St. Xavier’s School(Hindi Medium) and Senior team winner was Masi Marsal, Kazarkilo. Man of the match were Kundan Kumar(Junior Team) from St. Xavier’s School, Hindi Medium and Dinesh Murmu ( Senior Team) from Masi Marsal, Kazarkilo. Winning team and man of the match were awarded by our honorable Chief Guest.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at St. Xavier’s School, Boakro. The ceremony started at 9 A.M in the school assembly ground. Principal Fr. Saju Bastian hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. The students of class XI : Anisha, Shivangi, Nishi, Prakriti, Sneha Priya Soren and Taniya were awarded certificates for their stupendous effort to make the Rubella and Measles vaccination program a great success. ASISC Regional Badminton Championship Runners Up : Ankush Kumar( XII A),  Akshit(XII C), Anshul Shrivastava(XI A) and Mukul Anand(XI A) were felicitated on this occasion. Students from High School and Plus Two section enhanced the spirit of patriotism by singing patriotic songs. Students from Middle School performed a spectacular group dance. Our Principal delivered a speech reminding the students and the teachers of the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters. The programme ended with the distribution of toffees to all the students.

The Frank Anthony Memorial All – India Inter School, Debate Competition 2018

St. Xavier’s School, Bokaro had the privilege to host The Frank Anthony Memorial Inter- School Debate Competition 2018, Stage 1, Category II for the students of class X and below on 11th July. Speakers from eleven schools from around the States of Jharkhand and Bihar participated in the competition. The judges for the day, Anupama Tewary, Madhulika V. Korale, Candida Taboda were deeply engrossed in the session. The Chair Person Mrs. Chandrima Ray was very supportive and a motivational source for the participants.

Loyola School, Jamshedpur was the winner and Don Bosco Academy, Patna was the 1st runner – up. In the individual performance for the Motion, Mokshit Bhayani bagged for the Best Speaker Award. Vedansh Pandey received Second Best Speaker Award. In against the motion category, Abhinav Mishra was adjudged the Best Speaker and Vedika Chandra was declared the Second Best Speaker. All the participants were given Merit and participation certificate respectively.

Feast Of St.Clare

Saint Clare of Assisi was an Italian saint and one of the first followers of Saint Francis of Assisi. She founded the Order of St. Clare, a monastic religious order for women in the Franciscan tradition and wrote their Rule of Life. The renounced their wealth families and all their possesions and accepted poverty as a virtue to dedicate their life for God and to serve His people. Her feast day is on the 11th of August. The Primary wing of St. Xavier’s School celebrated St. Clare’s Feast on 10th August. The celebration started with a speech describing the life of St. Clare and her contribution towards society, followed by greeting Sister Grace, Sister Preeti and Sister Rosy as they were the special guests of the occasion. There were prayer dance and a fun filled dance by the lovely kids. Sister Grace addressed the gathering. It was an unforgettable occasion.

Fancy Dress Competition : Primary

We humans are social beings. So as to help the students identify different people of society and understand his/her responsibility towards the Society in a joyful manner Fancy Dress Competition was organized on 25th July by Primary wing of  St. Xavier’s School. The participants were dressed as soldier, doctor, milkman, politician etc. It was fun watching mighty Thor showing his fighting skill, Mother Teresa helping poor children, Mac Donald’s serving finger chips, Mother Earth teaching students not to use plastic, Maa Kali in her ‘rudra roop’ and many more. Respected Principal Father Saju Bastian SJ, honourable judges and the students enjoyed the show to its fullest. The programme as a complete success.

School Birthday And The Closing Ceremony of Fr. John Moore’s Centenary Year

St. Xavier’s School , celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day on 18th July, 2018. Students of each class celebrated this special occasion by cutting cakes with their class teachers in their respective class rooms during 5th and 6th period. Also a singing and dancing competition “Xavier Idol” held on this day. Our Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Ramanamma. She was the school captain of 1980 Batch. She was the special guest to grace the closing ceremony programme of Fr. John Moore’s Centenary Year. She also addressed the students of different sections and shared her work experiences and memories of St. Xavier’s School. There was a common celebration at 12:30 P.M in the school ground with the Boxans followed by a football  match – BOXAN VS SCHOOL TEAM. Children enjoyed the football match and they danced together in the ground after the match.

Blood Donation Camp 2018

A Mega Blood Donation Camp was organized by the INTERACT CLUB of St. Xavier School Bokaro on 4th July, 2018. The Blood bank department of Bokaro General Hospital assisted in this noble cause. Almost 100 donors turned up. There was a huge excitement seen among the students as they stood with the donors and also trying to help out the Blood bank people. The entire arrangement was done by the Interactors under the guidance of the club moderator Mrs. Chandrima Ray. The Principal of the school Fr. Saju Bastian lent whole hearted support to this project.

Staff Seminar

On 22nd and 23rd June 2018, Staff Seminar was organised in the school. The Seminar was focused on the theme of "Cura Personalis", a latin phrase which means "care for the entire person". The resource person Fr. Norbert Menezes shared his views with the teachers based on his research on NeuroScience. His views will help the teachers to understand the brain development of the children and to help them accordingly.

Yoga Day Celebration

On 21st June 2018, International Yoga Day was celebrated in the school premises with great enthusiasm. Special assembly was arranged for the whole school in which the objective for World Yoga Day was discussed among the students. The Yoga Resource Person Dr. Vinay taught various asanas to the students. Our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian motivated the students as well as staff to make Yoga an important part of their daily routine to stay fit and healthy.

Summer Camp 2018

St. Xavier’s School organized Summer Camp for the students of Std I to VIII from 7th May 2018 to 18th  May 2018. Nearly 400 students participated in the camp. During the camp, students were offered a plethora of activities which included Art &Craft, Cursive Writing, Classical Dance, Yoga, Music(Keyboard & Guitar), Vedic maths, Cricket, Basketball, Football. On the final day we had the closing ceremony. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was DIG, CISF Mrs. Nilima Singh. On this occasion a cultural bonanza was organized where students presented eye- captivating performances. Art & Craft students showcased their creations through an exhibition. After the performances, the Chief Guest addressed the gathering praising the efforts of trainers, staff and students. Then our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian gave a motivational speech. He encouraged students to develop their latent skills and talents. After the ceremony, the students were awarded certificates. The students were filled with glee and their parents and teachers were all proud of their children.

May Day Celebration

St. Xavier’s School  celebrated the Labour Day with a special assembly to express gratitude to the Maintenance Staff. Maintenance Staff members were escorted by the School Band and were presented with flowers as a mark of respect. The function kicked off with the Vice Captain's speech welcoming the workers and acknowledging  their hard work. A welcome song was presented by the High School Choir group followed by the Folk Dance presented by the Middle School students. Our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian delivered a speech thanking the workers for their generous service, day in and day ouy. Then the workers were presented with gifts as a token of appreciation by our Principal. Our New Vice Principal of Plus Two Fr. Arun Minz S.J was welcomed by presenting a welcome song sung by High School Choir group. On this occasion, four of our retiring staff members : Mr. John Tirkey (38 years), Mr. Laxman Lakra (37 years), Mr. Basil Dungdung (26 years) and Mrs. Shobha Patro (14 years) were felicitated. Farewell was given to Fr. Leo and Sr. Elseena. Farewell Song was presented by Plus Two Choir. ASISC Regional Athletics Meet 2018  participants, Bokaro Quiz Contest participants and Handwriting competition winners were also felicitated on this occasion. The function ended with vote of thanks by the School Captain followed by the Xavier Anthem.

Special Awards : Middle School

A felicitation ceremony held on 18th April, 2018 in Middle Section to honour the students for their stupendous effort in academics.
The students were awarded with certificates by the Principal Fr. Saju Bastian for the following categories :
  • Students who have scored less than 90% in the academic year 2016-17 but 90% or more in the academic year 2017-18.
  • Students who have shown an improvement in the academic year 2017-18 by scoring more than 10% than in the academic year 2016-17.
  • Students who have passed in all the subjects after getting promoted by taking retest.
  • Award for the best influence in the Middle School(Academic as well as character).
For all the prize winners it was a proud moment as they are a source of motivation for those who did not win any prizes.
The Principal congratulated the winners and encouraged more to be on stage next year.

Annual prize distribution function was held on 12th April, 2018 at the Middle School assembly ground. The students were

Tarumitra Camp

Under the guidance of our Reverent Principal, Fr. Saju Bastian and our teachers; the three days camp of Tarumitra eco-seminar went extremely well. It was an opportunity to learn and discern. St. Xavier’s family was tremendously delighted of being the host of  ten different schools of Jharkhand. Nearly 150 students took part in this enlightening camp. This year the main theme of the camp was to create awareness about plastic pollution and to avoid use of plastics. We chronicled a chronology of events as well as competitions. To spell the end of this successful camp, the third day was remarked by plantation of saplings by every individual. Tarumitra camp had contributed a lot to make the tomorrow of the budding generation a better, safer and a green place. This awakening impetus can encourage us to speak ‘Go Green’ , ‘Say No To Plastic’ , ‘Stop Pollution’ , & ‘Plant a Plant’ with pride.

Prize Winners For Excellent Performance in Academics : Primary

Childhood isn't a race to be won. It's an adventure of discovery to be relished. So as to enlighten and flourish such childhood it is essential to motivate and encourage them time to time. On 17th April, 2018 a small programme was organised in the Morning Assembly of Primary School to award the students who had shown excellent performance in academics in the last academic session. The Principal Fr. Saju Bastian and Fr. Arun Minz, Vice Principal of Plus Two Section had come to bless and motivate the students. The programme started with morning prayer followed by mesmerizing welcome song and rhythmic semi-classical dance by the Primary kids. The Principal awarded the winners and also addressed the students. Winners were also accompanied by their parents. Parents were thankful to the school and it's management for good upliftment of their kids. It also motivated other students. The programme was a great success.

Tarumitra : Staff Symposium

Staff Symposium was held on 13th April, 2018 based on the theme "Environmental initiatives taken by different schools and organizations for a healthy ecosystem" at St. Xavier's School, Bokaro. Ms Devopriya Dutta, a known environmental activist from Tarumitra, Patna; Ms Rossy Alexandra a final year graduate from Zomarano University, Honduras, Central America and Mrs P. Jyotirmai an experienced Biology Teacher at Holy Cross, Balidih(has been associated with Tarumitra for last 30 years) were the resource person on the occasion.We also had Guest Teachers from different schools. Ms Devopriya Dutta, Ms Rossy Alexandra and Mrs P. Jyotirmai shared their experiences and discussed on the environmental issues. They told us various ways by which we can protect and promote a helathy environment. Our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian also gave us insight to "Slow Food, Slow Living". The symposium was very informative and inspired everyone to take initiatives for a healthy ecosystem.

A.S.I.S.C Zonal Football Tournament 2018

A.S.I.S.C Zonal Football Tournament 2018 held at St. Xavier's School, Bokaro on 7th April 2018. The tournament was inaugurated by our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. Mr. Prabhat Kumar, D.I.G Bokaro was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Eight schools participated in the football tournament : De Nobili, CMRI; De Nobili, F.R.I; De Nobili, Maithon; De Nobili, Mugma; Denobili, Bhuli; Kanko Hill, Katras; De Nobili, Sindri; St. Xavier's School, Bokaro. There were 5 teams from Junior Group and 7 teams from Senior Group. In Junior Group - De Nobili, Maithon was the winner and St. Xavier's School, Bokaro was the runner up. In Senior Group - De Nobili, C.M.R.I was the winner and De Nobili, Maithon was the runner up. Winning teams and the runners up were awarded by our honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Prabhat Kumar.

Winners of "Make Your Teacher Famous" Contest : Primary School

Teaching isn't about information. It's about having an honest and compassionate relationship with your students. Tata Class Edge took the initiative to enlighten the sacred relationship of teacher and students by conducting a contest named as Make Your Teacher Famous on Teacher's Day. In this contest three students of Primary section of St. Xavier's School were awarded with a medal and certificate for proudly expressing their views about their favourite teacher. They are : Suryanshu Singh of Std II E, Saista Naaz of Std I D and Sahil of Std I C. Their favourite teachers were also honoured with a certificate. They are Ms. Sadaf Rehan, Mr. Mukkaram Hussain and Mrs. Margret Joseph respectively.

Inauguration of the New Academic Year 2018-19

An Inauguration Programme held on 26th March, 2018 to welcome the new session 2018-19. Mr. Jose Thomas(Principal of GGPS, Chas, Bokaro) was the Chief Guest for the occassion. The programme began by the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, the Principal, the Secretary, the Staff Representative and the School Captain followed by a prayer song. Then our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian delivered a welcome speech. He asked students to reflect on their final examination result and encouraged them to perform better in future. The Chief Guest felicitated the class-wise academic toppers and also the weak students who have shown much improvement, in the presence of their parents. It was an occassion to bid farewell to one of our retiring staff member of Middle Section, Mrs. Jessie Paul. Mrs. Jessie Paul was felicitated by our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. An inspiration speech was given by our Chief Guest to encourage the students. At the end, Vote of Thanks was given by our School Captain.

Parents Orientation Program 2018-19 for Prep Classes

The beginning is the most important part of the work. A good beginning makes a good ending. On 24th March, 2018 St. Xavier's School Pariwar welcomed it's youngest members i.e Prep students with lots of love and affection. It was accompanied with Parents Orientation Programme. Respected D.C Mr. M.K.Baranwal privileged the school with his august presence along with his wife Mrs Ruchi Barnwal. He adviced the parents to give ample time to their wards and not to compare them with others. The Principal Father Saju Bastian introduced the parents with school culture and requested them to be sincere towards the school as well as their ward. They were also given the general instructions by Vice Principal and manager of the school. The sole motive of Parents Orientation was to make them understand that behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first and it was successfully conveyed to them.

Career Guidance Program

On 30th Jan,2018 one of our Ex-Xaverian and a very successful personality, Mr. Kumar Ankit(2004 batch) visited our school. Mr. Kumar Ankit is currently, Company Secretary and Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs for Vedanta Limited(Sesa Goa Iron Ore and Ports Division). He has acquired pragmatic approach to solve complicated Legal issues with experience in many domains of business and laws. On 30.01.2018 a career guidance program was organised in school where Kumar Ankit addressed all the students of Std XI. He aquainted students with the various avenues and opportunities for a graduate in Legal Sector. He mainly focused on opportunities available  in the Legal Sector especially for those who want to pursue law. The students were enable to clarify their doubts and queries. Workshop on Motivation for Teachers

A workshop on 'Motivation' was conducted by Oxford University Press on 27th Jan, 2018. The resource person Mrs. Tapashi Samanta, shared her wonderful experience with us and enlightened us with the notion of Motivation and realization of the same. She engaged all the teachers with different activities like know your neighbour, role play, creative thinking, preparing collages for their dream school. Thanks to our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian for giving the teachers the opportunity to learn and enhance their teaching learning process.

Republic Day Celebration

Republic Day was celebrated on 26th Jan, 2018 in the school ground with patriotic fervour. The event began at 9:00 A.M with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal Fr. Saju Bastian, followed by the National Anthem. The students of four houses(classes VI to XII) and Hindi Medium marched in their colorful house uniforms rhythmically to the patriotic tunes played by the school band. A variety of cultural programmes mesmerised the audience. Middle School students performed a beautiful Bengali Folk Dance. High School and Plus Two students presented a dance drama on Women Empowerment. Hindi Medium students performed a well synchronized drill on the patriotic song 'Ye Mera India'. The programme concluded with a very inspiring speech given by our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian.

Webinar Conducted by I.T Club

I.T club conducted a Webinar for the students of Std IX on 15th Jan,2018. It was focused on the development of website using a tool called WordPress. I.T club members demonstrated the development of the website using WordPress, in a short time. They created dynamic websites and taught the steps of creating a website to the audience. Thanks to our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian for encouraging the students with his inspiring words and Fr S. Leo for helping the I.T club to achieve their goal.

A Seminar on Nifty & Censex and Global Crisis

Finomics club conducted its first seminar about Nifty and Censex and Global Crisis on 19th Dec, 2017. The audience for the seminar were the students of Class 11. This seminar was the result of the combined efforts of XOL Committee and Finomics Club. The anchor of the programme Aryaman Singh Chouhan first called Simran Goyal to address the gathering and tell the audience about the seminar. Then Shishir Nayan came to speak about stock exchange and also briefed the students about Nifty and Censex. He was followed by Baishnavi Priya who elaborated about Nifty and Censex to everyone with the help of slide show. Then Sumi Puri explained the audience about the gold price fluctuation etc. The last speaker was Govind Gupta who came especially to tell us about the global crisis of 2008.

Principal of our school Fr. Saju Bastian and Vice Principal of plus two section Mr. Anjan Sinha were the Chief Guests. Moderators of both the Finomics Club and XOL were present there. At the end Fr. Leo gave his feedback about the seminar and encouraged the students to conduct more of these seminars. Mrs. Deepa Lata also gave her feedback on the seminar. At last, Arpita Nandi thanked everyone especially the Speakers and the Chief Guest.

International GK Olympiad 2017-18

Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times. Some of the students of primary section of St. Xavier’s School has outshined with flying colours in International GK Olympiad 2017-18. Anchit Pankaj of Std 1/C got first school rank. Namrata of Std 1/D got second school rank. Sejal Patel of Std 1/c got third school rank and were awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. In Std 2, Shreya Singh of 2/B, Swadha Kumari of 2/C, Swastika Mishra of 2/C, Atish of 2/C, Harshdeep Singh of 2/D, Loukik of 2/D, Shaurya Shubham of 2/D, Ujjawal Chatterjee of 2/E and Rudransh Jha of 2/E got school ranks between first to nineth rank. Among them Swastika Mishra, Atish and Harshdeep Singh have shown excellent results and secured fifth, nineth and tenth zonal rank. In Std 3 Yash Tudu of 3/D, Vedant Agarwal of 3/C, Adarsh Dutta of 3/A, Ritik Kumar Jha of 3/A secured first, second, third and fourth school rank respectively in International GK Olympiad 2017-18.

Christmas Celebration

On 22nd Dec, 2017 Christmas was celebrated by primary wing of St. Xavier's School at 9:00 A.M. It started with an encouraging and inspiring message by honourable Principal Fr. Saju Bastian, followed by a dance drama and a bunch of melodious songs by choir. At the end a teacher disguised as Santa Claus, came to give gifts to few lucky tiny tots and sang and danced with teachers and students. The whole programme was remarkable and unforgettable too. 

At 1:00 P.M the rest of the school gathered in the assembly ground for common Christmas celebration. Middle School choir group sang mesmerizing Christmas Carols. Then Hindi Medium students presented a beautiful dance drama. High School students also performed a wonderful drama and song. Our Manager Mr. Noel delivered a short speech and celebrated every child's birthday on this auspicious day. Thanks to Almighty who blessed us with this wonderful day.

Farewell to Class XII Students

We had a common assembly on 15th Dec, 2017 at 9:00 A.M to give farewell to Plus Two students. A second function was organized by class XI students for the outgoing batch of class XII on 21st Dec, 2017. The function began with a prayer song sung by Plus Two choir group. Middle School students performed a beautiful dance. High School choir group sang a farewell song. A Farewell Speech was given by Mr. Deepak. Our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian delivered a speech. He blessed the outgoing batch and extended his good wishes to them for a bright, successful and prosperous future. The students grew sentimental and emotional as they recalled their happy memories of 13 long years in the school. On 21st Dec, 2017 during the farewell Md Arshad Khan as Mr. Xavier 2017 and Swati Kumari as Miss Xavier 2017 were declared.

Mock Fire Drill

A mock fire and evacuation drill involving students, staff and fire fighters was conducted by Jharkhand State Fire Department on 19th Dec, 2017 at 9:00 A.M in the school ground, to create awareness among the students about the fire fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such emergency situation. During the drill, fire officials told students about the measures to be taken if a fire breaks out. They illustrated various types of fires and precautions to be taken in such cases. Students, faculty and maintenance staff learnt important life saving tips from the demo.

On 4th December 2017, club members for the session 2017-18 handed over their responsibilities to the new club members for the session 2018-19. All the new club members took an oath to faithfully carry out the task entrusted to them and work towards bringing greater glory to the school. Principal Fr. St. Xavier's School held its 48th Annual Sports Day on 9th December 2017 in the school ground. Chief Guest Col. T. Anand(1980 batch, Boxan) and Special Guests - the visiting staff and students of Xavier College, Melbourne, Australia were escorted by our School Band to inagurate the function. There were 225 events. Loreto House bagged the Overall Championship shield with the scores 1780. Loyola House secured 2nd position with the scores 1687. Mini Sports Day 2017

Mini Sports Day was held on 7th Dec, 2017. The programme began by lighting of the torch and oath taking ceremony. There were several sports events such as skipping race, jalebee race, musical chair, get ready for school, ball game, tug-o-war and various other races in which students participated with lot of enthusiasm. In 200m race G Division boys from Loyola House and girls from Loreto House secured the 1st position. In 200 m race F Division girls from Xavier House and boys from Carmel House secured the 1st position. In 200m race B Division girls from Xavier House and boys from Loreto House secured the 1st position. Students from Primary School and Middle School performed a spectacular Mass Drill. An impressive March Past was performed by High School and Plus Two students.

Cross Country : High School

This year we had Cross Country organized for High School and Plus Two students on 25th Nov. Principal Fr. Saju Bastian flagged off the E – Division boys that marked the onset of Cross Country. The students were filled with fervour, excitement and anxiety to witness their house members score points for their respective houses. Towards the end of the event, the results were announced followed by the words of encouragement by our Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. The results were as follows : Loyola House secured the 1st position followed by Loreto House. Carmel House secured the 3rd position followed by Xavier House.

Cross Country : Middle School

Cross Country for Middle School held on 24th November 2017. The event started with a prayer song sung by Middle School choir group. All the students were very excited and full of enthusiasm to run along the school campus, as well as outside the school campus and break all the barriers of physical limitation. The winning house was Loreto. Loyola was the 1st runners up and Carmel 2nd runners up. The prizes were given away by Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. He congratulated all the winners and motivated everyone to take part in sports.

Interactive 'Talk Show' Organized By Interact Club

Interact Club of St. Xavier's School organised an effective interactive 'Talk Show' with the S.P Mr. Y. S. Ramesh(IPS) as the keynote speaker and he also presided over the function as the Chief Guest. The D.S.P Mr. Bakla was our other speaker. Sri Y. S. Ramesh, besides sharing his own experiences about preparation of Civil Services Examination, also emphasized upon the young adults the neccessity of being law abiding citizens. Sri. Bakla made them aware of the precarious situations they may find themselves trapped in. Our students asked very relevant questions, that pertain to them and both S.P Mr. Y. S. Ramesh and D.S.P Mr. Bakla were generous to answer their queries.

Winners for the Handwriting Competition which was conducted on 24/8/2017 were announced on 22/11/2017 at Middle School assembly ground. Although handwriting was the part of curriculum, it was the first time that such a competition was held in our school. Winners of the competition were honoured by the Certificates given by the Principal Fr. Saju Bastian. Handwriting is a symbol of human personality. It gives an insight to the thought process and how organised a person is. We are immensly thankful to Fr. Saju Bastian for his initiative and keen interest in handwriting.

Art & Craft Cum Science Exhibition 2017

Art & Craft cum Science Exhibition 2017 was held on 3rd November. Science Exhibition held for the first time in our school. The Inaugural Ceremony started at 9:00 a.m. Our honourable Chief Guest for the occassion was Mr. Satish Chandra, JAS, S.D.O, Chas. The exhibition was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon and lighting the traditional lamp. There were 39 stalls where Middle School, High School and Plus Two Students displayed their working models. The students of Primary School poured out their creativity and talent at the art and craft exhibition. Prayer song was sung by the High School students at the begining of the ceremony. Welcome dance was performed by the Primary School students. Folk dance was performed by the Middle School students. Chief Guest appreciated the novel ideas of the participants. Then the prize distribution ceremony started at 3:00 p.m. The Chief Guest for this occassion was Mr. Mahip Kumar Singh, D.E.O., Bokaro. The exhibits were judged by the Incharge Teachers and Award winning projects were given the certificates by our Chief Guest. Prayer song was sung by Plus Two Choir Group and a Classical dance was performed by Plus Two students. The Exhibition was a huge success. Enthusiasm and effervescence overflowed amongst students, their teachers and parents!

Teacher's Day Celebration

Teacher's Day at St. Xavier's School was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm. Teachers were brought along with the school band on the stage. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by Fr. Principal, Fr. Tom Keogh and lighting of candles by all the teachers along with the Prayer Song, sung by High School Choir group. Teachers were presented cards and gifts. Token of love were presented to Fr. Principal, Mrs. Jessy Paul, Mrs. Gloria Sanga and Fr. Tom Keogh. Cake cutting ceremony took place next by Fr. Principal, Fr. Tom Keogh, The Vice Principals and Boxans. Then our School Captain delivered a speech on Teachers Day. There were various games for the teachers and the students also performed various dances. Certificates were distributed among the regional Football Players. Fr. Principal delivered a speech.

Bokaro Inter School Football Tournament was held on 19th and 20th of August 2017 at St. Xavier's School,Bokaro. Kids from all over the Bokaro Districts from classes 5 to 8 participated in this tournament. Number of schools participated were 12 and number of teams 19. Mrs. Nilima R. Singh, DIG, CISF was the Chief Guest. Junior team winner was Masi Marsal, Patki and Senior team winner was Masi Marsal, Kazarkilo. Man of the match were Kundan Kumar(Junior Team) from St. Xavier's School, Hindi Medium and Basu Kumar(Senior Team) from St. Anthony School. Winning team and man of the match were awarded by our honourable chief guest.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at St. Xavier's School, Bokaro. The ceremony started at 9 A.M in the school assembly ground. Principal Fr. Saju Bastian hoisted the national flag, followed by The National Anthem. The High School students enhanced the spirit of patriotism by singing a patriotic sing. Students from High School and Middle School also performed group dance. After this our Principal delivered a short speech. The programme ended with the distribution of toffees to all the students.

Feast of St. Clare was celebrated on 11th August 2017. St.Clare was the divine soul upon whom Lord Jesus trusted for his Cross. She took her belief seriously and spent her life to joyfully serve as abbess, teacher, mother and spiritual directress of her nuns. Students of Primary School and Middle School celebrated Feast of St. Clare by presenting group song, dance and skit.

Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola

On 31.07.2017 the school celebrated the feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. A spectacular cultural programme was arranged by the teachers and students on this occassion which included the history of St. Ignatius Loyola. Fr. Saju Bastian, Fr. Tom Keogh, Fr. Leo and Sr. Grace were felicitated with bouquets of flowers. Students presented prayer dance and wonderful skit which conveyed the message of Ignatian values.

Blood Donation Camp

Interact Club of St. Xavier's School, Bokaro organized a Blood Donation Camp on 1st July in the school premises. An awareness programme regarding the same held from 8:00 a.m to 8:30 a.m. in the Ground Floor Demonstration room in the Plus Two section of the building. Following that there was a Blood Donation Camp set up in the High School Dispensary. The camp held between 9:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m.

Felicitation of ICSE And ISC Toppers

Felicitation ceremony was held on 28th june 2017 in school to honour the shinning stars of class XII and X who were the school toppers. Class XII : Sudeep Sharkhel, Science Student secured 98% and is the State Topper, Sristi Bala, commerce student topped with 96.25%. Class X: Baishnavi Priya has secured 97.8% and is the District topper, Second Topper is Yash Tarun who secured 95.6%, Akanksha Sing secured 95.4 % and is the third topper.

Farewell Function For Retiring Staffs

St. Xavier's School organized a farewell function for its retiring staffs : Mrs Madhushree, Mr. Rameshwar, Mr. D. Adhikari & Mr. Sarju. The function began with a prayer song sung by Plus Two students, followed by lighting of the lamp. Bouquets were presented to Mrs Madhushree, Mr. Rameshwar, Mr. D. Adhikari & Mr. Sarju by Principal. Then Mrs Madhushree and Mr. Rameshwar delivered a speech thanking the St. Xavier's School management, teachers and students. A short cultural programme was arranged on this occassion where Middle School students put up a dance performance and farewell songs were sung by High School students. Farewell Address was delivered by Fr. Saju Bastian.

On 21st june 2017, International Yoga Day was celebrated in the school premises with great enthusiasm. Special assembly was arranged for the whole school in which the objectives for World Yoga Day was discussed among the students. The program started with lamp lighting. Later students performed different asanas. These asanas were taught to bring about holistic approach to health and well being among the students.

SUMMER CAMP 2017

Summer Camp was conducted for the first time in St. Xavier's School. It was a 10 days camp from 8th may 2017 to 18th may 2017. More than 600 students participated in the summer camp. Government schools even participated in our school's summer camp. Saket Kumar Singh, DIG Coal Field Range Bokaro was the chief guest of the summer camp on the inaguration day. There were 13 categories in which students participated - kho kho, cricket, football, volley ball, badminton, basket ball, tae kwon do, music, art & craft, classical dance, school band, vedic maths, cursive writing.

'Climate Change' staff symposium was held on 28th april 2017. Father Robert Athickal SJ organised Climate Change Symposium. He is from Tarumitra Ashram, Patna. Tarumitra(meaning "Friends of Trees") is a nationwide student's organization to promote ecological sensitivity in India. The symposium showcased the need to protect and promote a healthy environment.
